Rare Looks Blog is a lifestyle blog for passionate enthusiasts interested in entrepreneurship, community awareness, hair, beauty, fashion, and healthy living. 

This is huge for us and we wanted to take this time to share with you!

The Face Behind Rare Looks Inc.

Mia Ross is a Southern California native who grew up loving fashion and beauty. Her passion developed into a career which turned into the establishment of Rare Looks Inc.

In 2015, Mia saw a lack of love and empowerment within the fashion and beauty industry surrounding women of color who wore hair extensions She observed women who liked to change their look with hair extensions. They were being stereotyped and targeted as being a victim of self-hate. Mia being a conscious black woman, educated on the history of hair extensions, fashion, and beauty. Dated back to c. 3100 BC. Mia knew that self hate wasn’t always the case. In fact, past scholars spend an abundance of time understanding history and discovered loose human hair in archaeological sites and in the tombs. According to an article published in the Journal of Egyptian Archaeology, these findings were indeed wigs and hair extensions. They were very common in Kemet amongst Queens and Kings, as it is still prevalent today among women of color.

Mia felt it was her duty to stand up for women and young girls around the world and create not just a brand but a lifestyle that encourages all to do what genuinely makes them fierce and happy. Whether it being the presence or absence of a wig, to afro on Tuesday, or 30” inches of hair extensions on Wednesday, her dream was to create a safe haven and affordable option for those creative minds that have a high interest in fashion, beauty and hair industry. There were not many options in surrounding areas that gave an artistic and creative edge in the interest of local citizens. Due to a lack of resources, she began to gain feedback from the community and wanted to make their needs a reality. Having access to the things that made the market scarce made a great opportunity to provide a solution.

Rare Looks is characterized around igniting the soul, and making people feel valuable within their passion and love towards the luxury market.
